HOUSE SCHUTTLER:

One of the few stands in this Knysna estate that has a view of the Knysna Lagoon, was purchased by the Shuttlers to build a home for themselves and their parents.  After site analyses was completed it was clear that the view would be the main focus point of the home, but due to the view being in the main wind direction, an additional sheltered area was provided to the North of the home.  The home needed to be single storey, provide adequate space for two couples, include a home office and a gym area.  The design was lead by the owners’ spatial needs, site analyses, innovative design solutions and the estate aesthetic design manual.  The result is a beautiful open-plan home with bedrooms facing the view, the office/gym spaces connecting the dwelling to the double garage by use of a modern concrete roof.
